授業の目的?内容 /Course Objectives |
This one-semester course for first year students will develop reading comprehension skills as well as guide students to produce well-structred argumentative essays on the topics they have explored in readings. The aim is to develop active reading skills through exploration of a text and discussions related to it. With writing, the aim is for students to further develop on the fundamentals of English essay writing beyond argumentative essays to include compare and contrast, cause and effect, expository, and narrative essays.. Overall Objectives - Reading 1, To understand how argumentative, or persuasive, texts are structured. 2. To make connections between the text to self, text to text, and text to the world. 3. To provide opportunities for discussion and critical reflection on readings to better organzie one`s thinking and ideas. Overall Objectives - Writing 1. To understand and practice structuring an argumentative essay in English with an introduction, body paragraphs and conclusion, and learn essential essay components such as a hook sentence, thesis statement, and topic |
